BSCAM Gift Shop

The Shop at the BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN CENTER for AMERICAN MUSIC has been a dream project and one of the most rewarding projects of my career. For more than two years, I had the privilege of helping shape and develop the retail experience—from the initial concept sketches, elevations, and fixture plans through the final details. Along the way, I collaborated with architects, craftspeople, lighting designers, archivists, and a remarkable group of creative and production partners to bring a new vision for the museum shop to life.

Custom black and blonde Richlite millwork runs throughout the space, paired with a versatile powder-coated shelving system designed specifically for the shop. The curated record section features custom vinyl bins I designed, because the smallest details deserved the same consideration as the larger architectural elements.

The apparel collection draws inspiration from vintage Americana, historic milestones, and the stories found throughout the Center. I designed the collection using pigment-dyed blanks for an authentic, well-worn feel, with custom on-garment branding details that give each piece its own character. Accessories follow the same philosophy, using premium materials, foil-laminated finishes, and thoughtful details to make even the smallest pieces feel special.

Huge thanks to my production partners for helping bring it all to life—on budget and on time.

Every great piece of fashion has a story. To help tell those stories, each graphic tee is paired with custom signage that gives visitors a glimpse into the inspiration behind the design. A simple, considered signage system keeps the focus where it belongs: on the stories and the work.

The reception and jewelry counter was designed to function as both a service hub and the home for a curated jewelry collection by Poorcat. At its center is a seven-foot frameless glass case built on reclaimed Broadway stage flooring. Brass and mercury glass trays, along with driftwood collected from my local surf spot, add a little character and a very personal touch to the display.

One of my favorite details is the rare poster collection, displayed on a custom magnetic laminated wall conceived by the talented team at CookFox.

Projects like this only happen because of the people behind them. It has been an honor to work alongside such an incredible group of leaders, architects, archivists, craftspeople, and partners—and to contribute to a place inspired by Bruce Springsteen, his music, and the stories that continue to connect people to American music.
